Despite my best efforts, my 7-year-old is obsessed with soccer. Turns out, 4 years of jiu-jitsu makes her fearless on the field—#TheAmazingAlina is all about that contact. So it looks like our summer weekends will be spent at Heritage Park for games and practices.

Soccer parents—any tips for surviving the Vegas heat?!

Last weekend was the first game where I thought, “Yup... summer’s gonna be brutal.” Thankfully, we’ll be cooling off post-game at Cowabunga Bay, various Henderson aquatic centers, or our favorite—Whitney Ranch. The slides + splash pad are perfect for our kids' ages.

👹 Tom Devlin’s Monster Museum

This quirky little Boulder City spot is a total win for horror lovers—or anyone who appreciates a good monster moment. It’s not scary (promise, nothing jumps out), but it is packed with wild props, lifelike movie monsters, and cool behind-the-scenes film magic.

The self-guided vibe means you can linger as long as you like, and the gift shop? Dangerously fun. It’s spooky in the best way—like Halloween met a film nerd and they opened a museum together.

☕ Bad Ass Coffee Coming to Henderson

Hawaii-based Bad Ass Coffee is heading to Henderson with a new three-unit deal. Known for its bold branding and Hawaiian-grown beans, the chain plans to open its first shop in the area by early 2025.

Locations haven’t been announced yet, but the franchise group behind the expansion says it’s focused on high-traffic, community-centered areas. Expect island vibes, creative drinks, and plenty of aloha spirit as the brand brings its laid-back energy to Southern Nevada. Read more here.

🛋️ Ikea to Open Planning Studio in Henderson

Ikea is bringing a new store concept to Henderson with a smaller-format “plan and order point with pickup” set to open later this year at Whitney Ranch Shopping Center. Unlike a full-sized superstore, this 2,900-square-foot space will focus on kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning—with help from Ikea staff—and offer order pickup.

No meatballs here, though: food won’t be available onsite, so fans will still need to trek to the Summerlin superstore for their full Ikea fix. More details here.
