It’s Thanksgiving week, which always feels like the perfect time to pause and reflect on what we’re thankful for. This morning, as we were scarfing down breakfast and trying to get out the door, our family started listing things we’re grateful for. Food, Grandma, jiu-jitsu, friends, cool clothes, Furbies, and 3-D printed dragons were all highlights from the kids.

And beyond the obvious, Karina and I wanted to tell you something important. We’re truly thankful for YOU. The readers of the HendersonHQ newsletter, the visitors on HendersonHQ.com, and everyone who’s subscribed to our new HendersonHQ podcast.

We started this passion project nine months ago thinking maybe we’d reach 5,000 subscribers by the end of the year and slowly grow a community around it. As of today, we’re about to surpass 22,000 subscribers. That’s because of you, and we don’t take it lightly. Thank you so much.

If you’ve enjoyed what we’ve been sharing so far, our family has one big favor to ask. Could you forward this email, or text this link to one or two friends who live in the area? It helps more than you know.

Also, if there’s a charity, cause, or local business you’re thankful for, send me a DM on Instagram. We’d love to hear about it and share it with the community.

Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is growing fast, and two new shops are on the way. The drive-through on St. Rose Parkway is set to open in this month, and a cafe on East Craig Road is expected by the end of January 2026.

Both spots will serve their smooth Hawaiian coffee, fun blended drinks, and fresh baked goods. With more locations planned, it’s a good time to be a coffee lover in the Valley!

The Giving Store is a friendly spot filled with low priced secondhand finds. New items come out often and the volunteers keep everything tidy and welcoming. Shoppers love the color tag sales, kids’ clothes for pocket change, and a mix of everyday pieces and designer gems.

With Thanksgiving here, it is a great place to shop for a cause and support a group that gives back to the community.

🌄 Nevada’s top places to live in 2025

The Gist: A new list highlights nine standout places to live in Nevada, and it’s no surprise that Henderson and Boulder City got some well-earned love. Henderson shines for its strong schools, quick access to Las Vegas, 37 miles of trails, and one of the lowest crime rates of any large U.S. city. Boulder City gets a nod for its small-town charm, a crime rate 51 percent lower than the national average, and that unbeatable access to the Hoover Dam.

Why It Matters: For those of us who call these communities home, it feels good to see what we already know get recognized. Safe neighborhoods, great scenery, and a pace of life that just feels right. Always nice when our corner of Nevada gets a little spotlight.

⚡ NV Energy says it overcharged customers by $65 million

The Gist: NV Energy has disclosed that tens of thousands of customers were overcharged by an estimated $65.4 million from 2002 to 2025. The issue stems from apartment residents being mistakenly billed as single family customers. Earlier estimates were lower, but new filings with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada added another $27.4 million in overcharges. The utility has already begun issuing refunds, including $32.6 million announced in September.

Why It Matters: Many Nevada residents could see refunds tied to years of incorrect billing. Neighbors are hoping this brings some long overdue clarity to their monthly bills.
