The Sphere is undefeated. As a Henderson local, you know what a pain in the butt it is to go down to the Strip. Traffic, parking, crowds… it’s all a turn-off for us locals.

And yet, going forward, I’ll make an exception for The Sphere. It’s currently 2–0 in the Groves household.

Earlier this year, some family friends were in town and ended up with two extra tickets to U2. Karina and I begrudgingly went. I fully expected The Sphere to be gimmicky, hard to access, and just another hyped-up, overpriced disappointment. I could NOT have been more wrong.

The visuals at the U2 concert were absolutely epic, and I was completely in awe. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. It’s honestly going to be hard to see a concert anywhere else now.

So when another family friend suggested seeing The Wizard of Oz on Christmas Day, I was more open-minded, but still a little skeptical. $109 for a movie ticket? Yeah… I had questions. Once again, I was wrong.

If you can afford it, and trust me, I get that $500 for an afternoon out is a brutal price tag, I’d highly recommend checking out a movie at The Sphere. It was awesome, the kids loved it, and Alina even caught one of the prized foam apples that dropped from the ceiling!
