One thing I’ve always appreciated about living in Henderson, NV is how much the city genuinely invests in its people—and this latest news really drives that home. Henderson was just selected as one of only 16 communities nationwide to join the Prenatal-to-Three Impact Lab, an initiative led by the National League of Cities. That might sound like a mouthful, but here’s what it really means: our city is doubling down on supporting families during the most important years of a child’s life.

This nine-month program connects Henderson with national experts and other cities, all focused on improving outcomes for mothers, infants, and young children. And I love that this isn’t just talk—it’s action. The city will be working on real strategies to improve access to services, strengthen family support systems, and better understand challenges like housing, childcare, and workforce participation. It’s a thoughtful, long-term approach that goes beyond quick fixes.
What stands out to me is how data-driven this effort is. Henderson will get hands-on guidance to better coordinate services and use real insights to make smarter decisions. That kind of intentional planning matters, especially when you’re talking about early childhood development. As Stephanie Garcia-Vause shared, the goal is to ensure every child and family has the opportunity to grow, succeed, and thrive—and that’s something I think we can all get behind.
At the end of the day, this is about building a stronger Henderson from the ground up. When families are supported early, everything else—education, workforce, community stability—gets stronger too. It’s encouraging to see Henderson recognized on a national level for this kind of work, and even more exciting to think about the long-term impact it’ll have right here at home.
