Homestead Site to Offer Senior Apartments in Boulder City

Former assisted living facility to become 120-unit senior community, expanding affordable options for local residents

A once-shuttered assisted living facility in southeast Boulder City is set for a major transformation. On April 23, the city council gave final approval for the former Homestead site to be converted into 120 apartments designed for seniors.

A Fresh Start for a Long-Vacant Property

Located on Adams Boulevard, the Homestead facility has stood vacant for several years. Now, it will find new purpose as a residential community tailored to Boulder City’s aging population. Renovations are slated to begin soon, aiming to breathe new life into the property while preserving its original community-focused mission.

Affordable, Senior-Friendly Living Spaces

Of the 120 planned units, half will be compact studios measuring under 500 square feet. These smaller units are designed to provide more affordable living options for seniors living on fixed incomes. Although the apartments will not carry official income restrictions, the project is structured to support accessible housing within the community.

Supporting Boulder City's Senior Population

As Boulder City’s senior population continues to grow, the need for flexible and affordable housing options becomes increasingly important. The Homestead conversion addresses this need by offering a mix of unit sizes in a familiar part of the city, helping longtime residents stay close to family, friends, and community resources.

Conclusion: A Welcome Development for the Community

With renovations expected to start shortly, the new senior apartments at the Homestead site promise to fill a critical housing gap for older adults in Boulder City. The project represents a thoughtful reuse of an existing property, reinforcing the city’s commitment to supporting its aging residents.
