🌄 Big plans for Black Mountain

This weekend our family will be hanging out at Cowabunga Bay for the 4th of July holiday. With two locations in Las Vegas, Cowabunga Bay has become a staple of summer activities for families with young kids. Have you been?

The Gist: Henderson is moving forward with plans for the 1,300-acre Black Mountain Nature Preserve, using a $5.5 million grant to improve existing trails, add a trailhead, overlooks, parking, and restrooms. Construction could begin in early 2027.

Why It Matters: If you've ever wandered the unofficial trails around Black Mountain, they'll soon be easier and safer to enjoy. The city plans to improve paths people already use instead of carving out new ones, making it easier for families, hikers, and dog walkers to get outside while keeping the area's natural feel intact.

The new Henderson spot opened in May, bringing authentic cappuccinos, lattes, panini, pastries, and fresh-baked treats to South Eastern Avenue. The porchetta sandwich, ham and cheese panini, and espresso drinks have already earned plenty of fans.
