Applications open for service opportunities

The City of Henderson is recruiting AmeriCorps volunteers to support a variety of programs serving the community. Open positions will focus on youth enrichment programs at local recreation centers and elementary schools, along with initiatives related to sustainability and emergency preparedness.

AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects thousands of participants with organizations across the country. Through these partnerships, communities are able to expand programs and increase their capacity to serve residents.

Benefits available to participants

Those selected to serve with the City of Henderson can receive several benefits while participating in the program. Volunteers may qualify for education awards that can be used toward college tuition costs or student loan repayment.

Additional benefits include flexible part-time schedules, living allowance stipends, and opportunities for career development. The program is designed to provide practical experience while supporting projects that benefit the community.

Who can apply

Applicants must be at least 17 years old. They must also either be working toward a high school diploma or have already earned a diploma or equivalent.

According to the city, AmeriCorps volunteers will help strengthen programs serving youth, support sustainability efforts, and assist with emergency preparedness initiatives, providing additional resources to programs that serve Henderson residents.
