Henderson Police Kick Off E-Bike Safety Push Before School Bells Ring

Back-to-School in Henderson Gets a High-Voltage Safety Boost
HENDERSON, NV — Just in time for the new school year, the Henderson Police Department is hitting the brakes on unsafe riding with a citywide e-bike and e-scooter safety campaign. And no, this isn’t just another PSA you scroll past—the stakes are high, and the wheels are already in motion.
From January through mid-June, HPD responded to 23 injury crashes involving e-bikes, and nearly 1 in 3 bike-related collisions involved an e-bike. With two fatalities on record since 2024, Henderson’s streets are clearly not immune to the growing pains of micromobility.
In response, HPD's Traffic Division launched an educational video geared toward students and parents. It covers:
The three classes of e-bikes and scooters (yes, there are classes)
Parental liabilities for reckless riding
Safety must-knows for young riders
Printed flyers will be making their way to schools and local events, while digital updates and email alerts round out the department's full-court press. In short, if you're in Henderson, this message is coming your way—one flyer, inbox ping, or traffic stop at a time.
Chief Reggie Rader put it plainly: "Keeping our community safe, especially our youth, is a shared responsibility." That means parents, students, and drivers alike have a role to play.
With school zones about to buzz again, officers will be on patrol enforcing e-bike laws and ensuring that helmets and speed limits aren’t optional. Consider this your friendly heads-up before the flashing lights start doing the talking.
