Karina and I were recently honored to become the godparents of a beautiful little girl, the daughter of one of my wife’s closest friends. It’s had us thinking more about faith, family, and the kind of spiritual foundation we want to build in our own home.

We both come from different religious backgrounds. Karina grew up Catholic, I grew up Presbyterian, and over the years we’ve each explored different faiths and spiritual paths. Lately, we’ve been feeling pulled to bring more religion and spirituality back into our family’s life.

If you’re comfortable sharing, where do you go to church here in Henderson? We’d love to hear where you’ve found a meaningful faith community, what you appreciate about it, and what made it feel like home.

🏗️ Henderson gets new industrial hub

The Gist: Developer Jeff LaPour has broken ground on the Black Mountain Commerce Center in Henderson, a 146,000-square-foot industrial project near Warm Springs and Eastgate roads. Unlike typical warehouses, the site will offer industrial condo units for sale, letting businesses own space instead of leasing.

Why It Matters: Projects like this shape the job landscape quietly but steadily, bringing more space for small and mid-size businesses to set up and grow. It also signals Henderson’s continued role as a logistics and business hub in the region, not just a place to live but to build from.

🧠 Henderson expands mental health crisis response

The Gist: Henderson is launching Nevada’s first dedicated mental health crisis team that can be dispatched through the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Licensed clinicians respond alongside police and fire to behavioral health-related 911 calls, offering on-site assessment, de-escalation, and connections to care instead of just emergency transport.

Why It Matters: When someone is in crisis, getting the right kind of help fast can change everything. This shift means trained mental health professionals are now part of the first response, helping ease pressure on emergency services while offering calmer, more specialized support when it’s needed most.
