Henderson Honors Heroes: Veterans Memorial Wall Applications Now Open

A Tradition of Service in the Heart of Henderson
In true Henderson fashion, the city is once again gearing up to celebrate its hometown heroes. Applications are officially open for local veterans to be inscribed on the Henderson Veterans Memorial Wall, with recognition set to take place during the city’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 8. For families hoping to honor a loved one, the clock is ticking—the deadline for submissions is Sept. 25.
The wall, which sits proudly beside Henderson City Hall, isn’t just a monument—it’s a community legacy. What began with 1,213 names has grown to include more than 1,900 veterans, each one a testament to the city’s deep roots in service and sacrifice.
Six Ways to Honor Service
This year’s additions will honor veterans across six categories, reflecting Henderson’s military history from Korea to present day conflicts:
Korean War Veterans
Deceased Veterans
Vietnam Veterans
Persian Gulf War Veterans
Global War on Terror Veterans
Veterans Killed in Action
It’s not just a wall of names—it’s a wall of stories, each inscription representing a Henderson resident who once called these streets home, whether near Water Street, Green Valley, or “over by the old mall.”
Keeping Memory Alive
The submission process is straightforward, though it carries the weight of history. Families must provide Form DD214 documentation to verify both military service and Henderson residency during that time. Once approved, names will be engraved into the wall’s panels in time for November’s ceremony—a moving tradition that brings together veterans, families, and neighbors alike.
For Henderson, Veterans Day isn’t just another date on the calendar—it’s a chance to stand shoulder-to-shoulder and remember those who carried the nation forward. The ceremony itself is known for blending solemn reflection with community pride, the kind of event where handshakes, hugs, and maybe a few misty eyes are guaranteed.
Mark the Calendar
Want to make sure your veteran’s name is etched into Henderson’s history? Don’t wait until the last minute (engraving takes time, after all). Submit by Sept. 25 and join the city in honoring local heroes this fall.
