It was a rare date night away from the kids for Karina and me this past weekend. We went out to dinner with a few of my coaching clients who were in town for a conference.
One of the best things about living in Las Vegas is that bad restaurants simply don't make it. I love that you can walk into almost any restaurant in town and know the food is going to be great. There's just too much competition for bad places to survive.

🚒 Henderson firefighters sharpen water rescue skills
The Gist: Henderson firefighters took part in annual swift-water rescue training July 6 at Cowabunga Bay Water Park. The hands-on exercises help crews prepare for flash floods and other water emergencies that can happen during Southern Nevada's monsoon season.
Why It Matters: Summer storms can turn streets and washes dangerous in a matter of minutes. While we hope crews never have to use these skills, this training helps firefighters stay ready to respond quickly when severe weather hits.
🥤 Shook Shakery coming to Henderson
The Gist: Shook Shakery is bringing its first Southern Nevada location to 3360 St. Rose Parkway in Henderson. The new drive-thru milkshake shop, co-founded by one of the entrepreneurs behind Nothing Bundt Cakes, plans to open four valley locations this year. The menu will feature cake-blended shakes, plus a dog-friendly treat that benefits a local animal charity.
Why It Matters: Henderson is getting a new quick stop for over-the-top shakes and sweet treats. The opening will also bring new jobs to the area and put a vacant St. Rose Parkway storefront back to use.
🍍 Hawaiian flavors in a historic setting

Hawaiian Restaurant 1933 brings island-inspired comfort food to the historic Boulder Dam Hotel. The menu includes favorites like the Big Island Rice Bowl, Pani Popo, musubi and the Tiki Burger, along with Hawaiian coffee and a newer dinner lineup that has been getting plenty of attention.
It’s an easy stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner while exploring Boulder City, with generous portions and a laid-back atmosphere.
