Henderson Fire Explorer Program Now Recruiting Next Generation of Firefighters

Suit Up: Henderson's Hottest Youth Program Returns This January
Think you have what it takes to join the fire service? The Henderson Fire Explorer Program is firing up for a new class—and it might just be the spark your future career needs. Orientation kicks off Saturday, Jan. 10, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Henderson Fire Training Center, and trust us, this isn’t your average career day.
Designed for locals ages 16 to 24, this hands-on training experience lets participants dive into the real-life world of firefighting. Whether you're a high school student with big dreams or a recent grad exploring next steps, this program is the ultimate crash course in courage, commitment, and community.
From Hose Drills to Hero Skills This isn’t a sit-and-watch kind of deal. Explorers get down to business with firefighting techniques, EMS drills, and rescue operations, all led by seasoned Henderson firefighters. Physical fitness, team-building, and public service events round out the experience.
New for 2025: A more structured career pathway is in place, guiding Explorers toward roles like firefighter or firefighter paramedic. And with added volunteer opportunities, participants can make a real impact while building serious street cred (and a resume).
Why locals love it:
Real-world training in firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical skills
Mentorship from HFD pros who know the ropes
Community engagement at local events and safety programs
A clear path from Explorer to potential full-time firefighter
In the heart of Henderson's training hub (yes, over by the Fire Training Center, not far from the DMV), this program is shaping the city's future first responders. It’s more than a peek behind the curtain—it’s an invitation to join the ranks.
