When we moved to Henderson a few years ago, we were chasing something simple but rare: community. Thinking we would find that in Vegas felt like a long shot, but we couldn't have been more wrong.

In just three years, we’ve built more real friendships and deeper connections than we did in four decades in Los Angeles. And this week, that community showed up in a big way.

A family from our jiu-jitsu gym is going through a medical crisis. Yesterday, we hosted a fundraiser to support them—and the turnout was incredible. It was one of those moments that makes you pause and feel grateful to be exactly where you are.

Tucked over on Warm Springs Rd, this spot is all about solid training in a laid-back, no-ego environment. Whether you're just getting started or you’ve been rolling for years, the coaches here are knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping you grow.

The atmosphere’s friendly, the instruction is sharp, and the mats feel more like community than competition. If you’re looking to sharpen your skills and sweat a little, this is a great place to start.

🃏 Action Comics and Sports – Henderson
If you’re a fan of comics, collectibles, or just love a good trip down memory lane, this spot is a must-visit. Whether you're hunting for that rare comic book or need a hand with your own collection, the team here is knowledgeable and friendly—always willing to help out.

They’re great at tracking down hard-to-find items and even offer discounts on future visits. Plus, the store’s always buzzing with activities and events for fellow fans. It’s a great place to stop by for a chat or score your next treasure.

🌳 Henderson to Give Away Trees for Arbor Day

In celebration of Arbor Day, Henderson is giving away drought-resistant trees to help residents stay cool and green up their neighborhoods. The first 100 Pittman residents who visit Wells Park on Friday, 04/26, will receive a free tree and a bag of soil, courtesy of Star Nursery and Nevada Plants.

Funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, the event will include appearances by Congresswoman Dina Titus, Councilwoman Monica Larson, and Assistant City Manager Angela Summers. More info here.
