The Gist: Women 18 and older interested in firefighting or emergency medical services can attend a free Women in Fire Service workshop on April 11 at Henderson’s Fire Training Center. Participants will get hands-on experience with fire hoses, extrication tools, aerial ladders, protective gear, and life-saving skills like CPR.

Why It Matters: The workshop introduces participants to the physical and mental demands of firefighting while promoting diversity and recruitment in the Henderson Fire Department. It’s empowering to see opportunities encouraging women to explore careers in firefighting.

The Gist: Henderson’s Inspirada community is seeing the start of Centurion, a 24-acre mixed-use development with 78,756 square feet of retail, including a Sprouts grocery store and 600 apartments. Sansone Companies held a ceremonial groundbreaking, with site work already underway and retail construction expected to finish by year-end.
