When we launched the HendersonHQ newsletter last April, and the website last June, Karina and I thought we might hit 5,000 subscribers by the end of the year, and even that felt optimistic. Well… on December 31, 2025, we closed out the year with 23,278 subscribers. This year, we’re already approaching 25,000.

The Gist: China Mama is opening a new Henderson location at 2550 St. Rose Parkway, Suite 120, expected by May or June. The restaurant is known for contemporary Chinese fusion with dishes like crispy beef, soup dumplings, and pan-fried pork buns.

The Gist: Henderson City Hall is hosting Lure of the Land: Women Artists on Southern Nevada, a free exhibition running through March 26. The show highlights the work of Southern Nevada-based women artists whose pieces explore the region’s landscapes and culture. Visitors will see works by Jennifer Kleven, xochil xitlalli, Natalie Delgado, Paula Jacoby-Garrett, and many others.

Why It Matters: The exhibit offers a fresh perspective on Southern Nevada’s natural beauty and cultural identity, celebrating the voices of local women artists. A special opening reception is Thursday, Feb. 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with light refreshments and a chance to meet the artists. It’s a great opportunity for Henderson residents to see our region through the eyes of talented local creators.
